As per NCTE guidelines, School Education Boards in India must hold Teacher Eligibility Tests to ensure only qualified candidates are selected for teaching positions. Following these guidelines, WBBPE conducts the Primary TET regularly.
Applications for the 2023 TET were open in September and October, with the board receiving over 2.5 lakh applications.
Overview of WBBPE TET 2024
The WB TET 2023 was a traditional pen-and-paper exam with objective-type questions, where each question had multiple-choice answers, and candidates chose the correct option. The test had 150 questions, which could be answered in either English or Bengali. Candidates were given 3 hours to complete the exam, and there was no penalty for wrong answers, with each correct answer earning 1 mark.
Result Preparation Process
After the exam, participants handed in their answer sheets to the invigilators. Now, the board is busy evaluating these sheets. Once each answer sheet is reviewed, the board will shortlist candidates based on their scores. The WB TET Result is expected to be announced in April 2024. Candidates will need to check their qualifying status on the board’s official website.
WB TET Qualifying Marks
For the West Bengal TET, a score of 60% or higher is needed to qualify. Reaching this score means a candidate is eligible to be considered for teaching roles, though it does not guarantee a job. This qualifying mark helps maintain teaching quality standards by ensuring that those who pass have the necessary knowledge and skills.
